Pauline D. Lorfano

Pauline Davis Lorfano’s educational background includes Maine College of Art, Westbrook College and a B.S. in Art education from University of Maine.
She has taught drawing and painting on the elementary and college level. She continues to paint in her studio  in Vienna, Virginia and teach workshops and judge art exhibits in the area.

Active in the art community, she has been past President of Potomac Valley Watercolorists, Vienna Arts Society  and Art Chairman of the National League of American Pen Women. and Co-President of Virginia Watercolor Society. She serves on the governing boards of a number of local, regional and national art organizations.

She is a signature member of Virginia Watercolor Society, Baltimore Watercolor Society, Potomac Valley Watercolorists and the International Society of Marine Painters. Mrs. Lorfano is a member of the Washington Water Color Association, Vienna Arts Society, Mc Lean Art Society,  American Society of Marine Artists and the Art Council of Fairfax County and the previous mentioned organizations.

Her paintings have been exhibited in galleries throughout the East Coast. Chrysler Museum, Maritime Museum, Havre de Grace Museum, Ellipse Gallery, Bayview Gallery, Longboat Key Gallery and solo shows at  Charles Sumner Museum, the National Horticulture Center, Green Springs, Lawrence Gallery, to name a few.
Presently  her watercolor painting “Maine Attraction” is in the 30th Anniversay Exhibit of the American Society of Marine Artists travelling to five museums on the East Coast.

Mrs. Lorfano has received numerous awards over the years including the HISTORIC PRESERVATION AWARD from Historic Vienna, Inc. for her illustrations in “Visiting Historic Vienna, A Child’s Book to Color,” and  for the
many drawings and illustrations for the Town of Vienna. In 2000 Maine College of Art awarded her an Honorary degree in Fine Art. In 2004, Vienna Arts Society honored her with their first “Artist of the Year” award at the annual juried exhibit,“Treasury of Art.” She also has received two Grumbacher Medals, silver and gold. She  received the “Richmond Regional Watercolor Award” at the 23rd Virginia Watercolor Society Exhibit. At the Potomac Valley Watercolorist’s Quiet Water’s Exhibit she received the Third Place Award.  In 2007, she received  Second Place in the “Food for Thought” art exhibit at the Mansion, Strathmore Hall, N. Bethesda, MD.,”Edith Strange Award” at the “Spring  Splendor” exhibit of the Washington Water Color Association, the “Landscape Award” at the International Miniature Exhibit at the Cider Painters of America exhibit, Widman Gallery, Wilkes Barre, PA. In June, 2007 she was featured on the PotomacValleyWatercolorists.com web site.

Mrs. Lorfano has been featured in ELAN magazine (March 2002), “A Sense of Place” and has been favorably   reviewed in the Connection newspapers. Her  work has been on the covers of “Welcome Home” magazine and in the Pi Beta Phi “Arrow’ and  in the NLAPW “Pen Woman” magazine.
